Beer Zoo

I've been relatively oblivious to the mix-a-six selection at the Beer Zoo distributor located not more than 5 miles away from my apartment. Trust me when I say I've been negligent as they have quite the array of brews just waiting for the tasting, but my self-assured butt always went to the full six-packs, ready to commit to something new like I had no cares in the world for my money or taste buds.

This has been a game-changer - not just my epiphany in the store, but for self realization that I am too narrow-minded at times and need to s l o w  d o w n in life and take better time to notice my surroundings as one can often miss a beautiful occurrence or can nestled in full sight.

While most of these were old-time goodies, they were what I needed, the familiarity and nostalgia of tongue-friendly tastes. With the breakup still raw, my ever beer-lust (play on words for beer + wanderlust) need some friendly tones for comfort. My mind was into trying new things, but my heart wasn't quite ready, save for one new bottle, but only because it had a pretty label, a fleeting mini escape.
  • Not Your Father's Fruit Punch packs a sugary punch in the mouth at 5% and more sugary than I remember the Kool-Aid my Mum used to make
  • Strongbow Artisanal Blend Cider is my nostalgic beer for studying abroad in London. It has a slight more pear-like taste than the traditional Strongbow and I about cried when I found my first case following those three glorious months at Kingston University. Albeit I had to drive over half an hour to find the damn thing and it wasn't only available in a case, it was worth it
  • Bud Light Lime Mang-O-Rita is surprisingly good. Coming from a non-Bud drinker, perhaps that is a compliment? I'm certainly no beer expert, but I like what I like, and Bud did a darn-tootin' bang up job with their fruity 'Rita line
  • Sauer Sauce by Stoudts Brewery is a sour with some high reviews on Untappd. Yep, yep, pretty much lived up to its online arbitrary rating. Solid sour taste with a relatively low ABV of 4.6%

Do you have any favorites brews you gravitate towards despite any taboos or anyone poking fun, i.e. BudLight or Coors?
