Drafts at JB Lovedraft's

JB Lovedraft's is my go-to for Tuesday night karaoke - they also host Thursday night for those with a preference for the hard rock jams not so often appreciated at the more traditional karaoke events. DJ Damion will hook you up and will show you a whole new world. I digress...

In conjunction to JB's on Harrisburg's eventful 2nd Street, I'm thankful for Jimmy John's late night hours and the ease of grabbing an Uber ride to and from the sandwich heaven. If you're an IPA lover, those hops will catch up to you and you'll be making the stumble over to "John-John's."

Tonight called for an array of various new brews ranging from local to the Seven Kingdoms.

Evil Genius hails from Philly and has some of the most creative names I've seen. Most have heard of the "Sweet Baby Jesus" Porter - I'm only not a fan because porters don't agree with my stomach. Turtle Power was on the docket for me tonight and that's exactly how I feel after a night of seemingly endless karaoke so it felt fitting.

The internationally acclaimed Game of Thrones released its own series of brews. JB's had the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms available in bottles and I simply could not resist.

Victory holds a special place in my heart being the brewer of one of my favorite sours so aptly named Sour Monkey. On this particular occasion, I was feeling a newer flavor by the sour fiends called Limey Gose, which is another one of their sours. Also, if you pronounce "gose" as "goose," well all I can picture is Hermione Granger in my head correcting you.... This delightful little number certainly left a nice pucker effect on  my face albeit not overtly sour as to take away from the overall lime flavor. With a sprinkling of salt, this would be extra bangin'.

As the night wore on, I was a bit of a jinx as I caused not one, but two kegs to kick in one go. After that point, I just gave up and went back to my gose.

Pizza Boy Brewing Co hails from Enola, PA which is literally a hop, skip, and a little swim from downtown Harrisburg and its brewery/restaurant area is one of my top favorite when it comes to food and beer due to the sheer number of drafts they have available at any one given time. Being as indecisive as I am, it takes me more than a hot minute to decide amongst the 100+ taps available. The Spandex, Glitter & Ego was lived up to its vivacious name - what little I could taste at least from the remainder of the keg. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend giving it a go.

Feeling particularly salty & craving that puckered lip look, next choice fell on DuClaw's Sour Me This. Again, difficult to truly give full taste test since I kicked the keg on this one, but that sour taste has me salivating again just thinking about it...

It's funny how one's beer taste preferences can swing just as one is in the mood for particular foods such as pasta, sushi, tacos, etc. Lately I've been in this sour mood with no end in sight right now. Usually it's light and citrus for summertime heat, but these sours are the bees' knees.
